There hasn't been water in the Arkansas River since around 1997. Every so often, the county will mow the river bed in the county and the city is responsible for mowing the river bed inside city limits. (My photos were taken of the city area.)  My wife is afraid that as the drought continues, the foliage in the river bed will die and dry, and the river bed could catch fire. This would be an interesting spectacle.
