Tree damage 10 June 2009
The night of 9 to 10 June 2009, a series of severe thunderstorms struck southwest Kansas. There were a number of high wind events and a lot of tree limbs, etc were blown down. I filmed the tree limb damage in my front yard but never thought the city would respond so quickly. I should have filmed the tree limbs down in other yards but didn't and the debree was gone by 10 am!
Here, anyway, is a film of the damage in my front yard!
This truck was operated by a crew which moved the tree limbs from neighbor one's yard:
Might as well start with looking where the limbs came from:
Do you see the broken stub in the first three photos? I read a vampire novel which included a scene in which a Catholic Nun climbed a tree and stood in front of a broken limb like this one (she stood on a lower limb). The Nun attacked a passing, flying, vampire (with a pistol or rifle, I don't recall). The vampire was in the final approach of it's attack when the Nun moved and the vampire was impaled.
It was a very nicely written scene and I wish I could remember the novel.
Here are the limbs on the ground:
Here is neighbor two's yard after the clean up crew went by. I wish I'd filmed their yard before the cleanup.
